The first CICA exhi­bi­tion took place in Tusheti, in a building which was ini­tially inten­ded to serve as a cable car sta­tion during the Soviet times. However, it was never completed. The aban­doned basic con­struc­tion with its monumental appearance showed perfect conditions to be trans­formed into an art space for international and contemporary art.

CICA is the new mouth­­piece of Georgia and its re­la­tion to inter­­na­tio­nal and con­­­tem­­­po­­­rary art. CICA initially sees itself as a location-inde­pen­dent insti­­tu­tion for inter­­na­tio­nal and con­­tem­­po­rary art. Surrounded by spectacular mountain ranges of the Northern Caucasus, the pre­miere CICA exhi­bition ran under the name: “Now is the right moment to say wow!”
