As the Art Director for this year’s (2024) PDP Design Conference in Novi Sad, Serbia, I had the opportunity to push creative boundaries and explore the playful side of design. The typeface I created for this event was a nod to traditional typography, reimagined with a fun and modern twist. The result was a cohesive and engaging visual identity that resonated with the spirit of the conference. The 16th anniversary of the PDP Design Conference was a celebration of creativity, humor, and design. Under various playful slogans like “Sugarbabe Hyphenation Honeypie“ or “Helvetica Heartshaped Candy,” we tied the sweet essence of this milestone to common design terms, crafting a unique and memorable visual identity.
The slogans were brought to life across a variety of mediums, including posters, banners and merchandise. Vibrant visuals adorned the conference venues, setting the tone for an energetic and engaging atmosphere. An extensive range of items such as notebooks, stickers, T-shirts, and caps were designed to carry the playful theme, allowing attendees to take a piece of the conference home with them. The conference boasted an impressive lineup of speakers, including:
Luisa Milani from La Tigre in Milan, Theresa Hattinger, a Vienna-based designer, Marina Milanović from Novi Sad, Petar Stošić and Andrija Čugurović from Belgrade. Working with the PDP team was an absolute delight, making the entire process not only productive but immensely enjoyable. The energy and creativity of the team were infectious, and it was a privilege to contribute to such a vibrant community.
