I had the great pleasure of leading a one-week workshop for students at the Academy of Fine Arts in Hamburg. The assignment was to develop typography in a rather unconventional way. As a result, the students created unique type patches that were transferred onto textile foil and ultimately applied to shirts.

Just around the corner from the academy lies the Mundsburg Shopping Center, which became an unexpected source of inspiration for many students. Con­veniently, a legendary fashion brand, a true fashion icon of the late ‘80s, was running a sale with discounts of up to 70%! We couldn’t resist this opportunity, of course! Typography workshop or not, but bargain hunting is always a must! So in my workshops, you don’t just learn typography, you also pick up some serious tips and tricks in the wild world of retail discounts. The students created unique fashion pieces using these typographic interventions. The results turned out absolutely amazing.
