Bijeljinale goes Vienna represents the next stage of the BečBijeljina project, which initially debuted during the Vienna Design Week in October 2023. The first exhibition took place in May 2023, at the Gallery of the Cultural Center Semberija in Bijeljina, Bosnia and Herzegovina. For further details, click here.
Featuring the works of 31 artists and designers from Vienna and Bijeljina, the Vienna Design Week provided a platform to introduce these talents to the Viennese audience. An abandoned hotel near the Prater Park served as the festival headquarters, where numerous designers and creators showcased their projects.
For BečBijeljina, my colleague Pavle Golijanin and I served as the curatorial and creative directors, meticulously transforming three hotel rooms. To enliven these somewhat dull and compact spaces, we adorned the walls with oversized, handcrafted letters in a striking blue hue. These letters prominently displayed the exhibition's theme, The European Art Lover’s Wildest Dream, resonating throughout all three rooms, captivating visitors with their bold presence.
The European artlover’s wildest dream is also the name of first publication that serves as a companion piece to the exhibition.
